6TH ANNUAL GREAT RIVER BIRDING & NATURE FESTIVAL

The festival is brought to you by Volunteers from Mississippi Valley Partner communities.  The Great River Birding and Nature Festival are proudly endorsed by Audubon as a unique educational experience to connect people with nature. 

Guided Birding Hikes for both beginners and advanced birders will take you along the river shoreline, to bluff land, grasslands, bottom lands, Mississippi River backwaters and the Weaver Dunes Nature Conservancy, in search of migrating warblers, raptors, and waterfowl, as well as, area fauna and flora.  There will be special Evening Hikes to explore nocturnal animal sounds.

Additional FEE Field Trips will be offered all three days to explore the waterways and include:  Birding by Motor Boat, by Mini-Railroad Cars, and Birding by Kayak or Canoe on the Mississippi backwaters and sloughs.

Registration:  Our registration deadline for Reserved Fee Events is May 5.

Cancellations:  Reserved Event Cancellations will be accepted no later than May 2, 2007 for a full refund.  Refunds will be mailed to participants within 2 weeks after the festival.

Arrive at least 15 minutes before event to park and locate guide.
Requirements to Participate
NO EXPERIENCE IS NECESSARY!  But you must purchase a $5 BUTTON to gain entrance into all events and to receive any festival discounts.  Buttons are available at Festival Headquarters and the locations listed under BUTTONS ON THE MENU PAGE.

Mississippi Valley Partners and all participating organizations and volunteers have made no warranty or representation, expressed or implied, regarding the safety of conducting activities involved in this festival and will not be held liable for any injuries during participation.  By participating in the Great River Birding & Nature Festival you agree that you are participating at your own risk.

The Great River Birding and Nature Festival committee reserves the right to cancel any event or change an event due to prevailing circumstances that require such action.  Every effort will be taken to follow the itinerary stated within this brochure and on the web site at mississippi-river.org/birding

Additional FEES are REQUIRED for Birding by Motor Boat, by Mini-Railroad Cars, and Birding by Kayak or Canoe on the Mississippi backwaters and sloughs.  Also an additional fee is required for the Saturday 3:00 PM Presentation about Lake Pepin with Katie Himanga aboard "The Pearl of the Lake" Paddle Boat. These events MUST be RESERVED and PAID in ADVANCE.  Contact the telephone number to reserve your space, and mail payment TO the address NOTED in the Event Description.  CHECKS TO:  MVP BIRDING FESTIVAL 2007

An ENTRANCE FEE of $5 per person is charged for the Friday Evening Reception with Key Note Speaker, Jon "Hawk Stravers at Wings Over Alma in Alma, Wisconsin and for  Saturday Evening Wine & Cheese  Reception with Key Note Speaker Kim Risen, at Hok-Si-La Park, Lake City, Minnesota  The Silent Auction and Trade Show also requires an entrance fee of $5 in addition to your $5 Button purchase.
