Shakespeare Fesival
June 2005 June 24 - July 24 Second season of the Great River Shakespeare Festival. The two featured plays for this season are Much Ado About Nothing and Richard III. The Festival will host another series of Prelude concerts, hold an apprentice performance, host Front Porch speakers, conduct an expanded teacher's workshop, and unfold a new Elderhostel program. Farmer's Market, Saturdays 7:30 a.m. - noon, Wednesdays 2:00 - 5:00 p.m. 2nd and Main St. All vendors are local (with a 50-mile radius) and grow or produce their own goods. Saturday mornings are the best time to come, as there are usually 20-30 vendors. Wednesday afternoons are smaller, but you can still find fresh goods at a great price.

Street dances and movies--sponsored by Abby's Soda Jerk, 119 E. 3rd St. Dances are scheduled to be held every 1st and 2nd Friday of the month (Saturday is the rain date) through the summer and into the fall. A short movie will be shown at dark. Call (507) 474-1001 with questions.

4-5 2nd Annual Dakota Homecoming and Gathering. The "Winona-Dakota Unity Alliance" invites you to attend a wonderfully warm-spirited gathering at Lake Park to welcome back all Dakota Native Americans again to their ancestral home in Winona. The weekend encampment and gathering will be filled with music, games, foods native to the Dakota, handmade art and gifts, dancing, storytelling, spiritual ceremonies, and the sharing of many warm memories.
