In the late 1800s, before the road was built up river from Lacupolis, early settlers stopped at Camp Lacupolis, camping overnight before continuing on up river by boat to Lake City. Hence, the camp got its name, which means Camp Lake City in Greek, being located down river nine miles from Lake City.
Generations of fishing enthusiasts have enjoyed the beauty and bounty of Camp Lacupolis, and parents and grandparents have continued to teach their children the thrill of fishing as their ancestors did before them.
